In order to give you an even better experience here at The Center for Cosmetic Dentistry, we recently upgraded our CEREC® digital impression technology from Bluecam to Omnicam. Today I wanted to take a moment and tell you why we decided to adopt this new technology and how it will affect your future dental restoration work.
The CEREC® Bluecam camera requires a coating of powder over your teeth and combines single snapshots to generate a black and white 3D digital tooth impression. In comparison, the CEREC® Omnicam creates a color 3D model of your teeth with its continuous and automatic powder-free scanning. It’s also easier to scan over your teeth due to its longer handle and bigger camera lens.
The CEREC® Omnicam can also record a video clip of your 3D model, enabling you to see which tooth needs dental work. Also, if you have any questions about the procedure I can just pause your scan and continue it after a couple of minutes.
This new impression technique can ultimately provide you with a more convenient and precise way of digitally creating a replica of your teeth for the most precise treatment results possible. It speeds up the already fast method of creating dental crowns, onlays, and porcelain veneers in single short appointments. Plus, the technology is so accurate that it can make even better-fitting restorations. We are very excited to bring this advanced impression technology to our patients!
